FAQ

Who are we ?

We are a group of people whose lives have been touched and changed by the love of Christ. We have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour and our goal is to please Him in everything we do. All the things that you see us teach and do are solely based on the commandments of our Lord Jesus and the examples of the early church as found in the New Testament.

Simply put, we are striving to be the church that is found in the New Testament by diligently following the doctrine and practice of the early church.

Who started this church ?

We believe we are part of the same church that Jesus is building when He said “I will build My church and the gates of hades shall not overpower it.” This church is built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone and His disciples as the living stones being built together as a spiritual house, growing into a holy temple in the Lord and a dwelling of God in the Spirit.

What are we called ?

As disciples of Christ, we bear His name and are simply called ‘christians’, just as the disciples in the New Testament were called. We bear the name ‘church of Christ’ more as a description of who we are rather than as a title or a name. We are the church that belongs to Christ.

Are we a part of any major denomination ?

We do not belong to any denomination or Christian group. We are an independent local congregation having the word of God as the sole authority for all that we teach and do. There are thousands of such local congregations throughout the world, each of them deriving their authority from the Bible alone.

How do we become members of this church ?

A person cannot ‘become’ a member of our church, but is rather ‘added’ to the church by the Lord when he or she is born again in the waters of baptism in obedience to the command of Jesus.

How is the church organized ?

We believe that Jesus Christ is the head of our church and no one else can take His place. All the members of the church are equal in the sight of God, each of us saved by grace through faith in Jesus.

The church has elders to oversee the work of the church, deacons to serve, and preachers and evangelists to teach the word of God. We do not have special titles for any member of the church and address each other by our names or simply as brothers and sisters.

What do we do on Sundays ?

We meet on the first day of week (Sunday) to Worship God and have fellowship with one another. You will see us joyfully singing songs, pouring out our hearts to God in prayer, breaking bread in grateful remembrance of the sacrifice of Jesus, edifying one another through the word of God and cheerfully giving to the Lord.

You are most welcome to visit us on any Sunday and experience the love and warmth of being in the family of God.

What else do we do ?

Apart from gathering as a church on Sundays we meet at other times during the week for various activities in order to serve the Lord and to encourage and edify one another.

We have a monthly men meeting, ladies fellowship meeting and a youth meeting to address the unique needs of each of these groups. Once a month, the church gathers at a members’ home for an informal time of being together as a spiritual family and sharing with each other how God has worked in our lives.

We share the good news of the love of Christ through Home Bible Studies, Correspondence Courses and Gospel Meetings.  We have regular outreach programs to help the poor and the suffering.

Our mission is to simply be the church that seeks to restore the simplicity and the purity of the New Testament.
